Reference sample panel moulded in PVC with epoxy detail, photographed for client approval

What a sample is for

A pre-production sample is a physical part made in the real mould and material, before the full run. It is the only point where you can change shape, colour or relief at low cost — after production starts, changes mean re-tooling.

How long sampling takes

A pre-production sample is ready in 5–7 days after artwork approval. The clock starts when your artwork is approved, not when you first enquire, so approving artwork quickly is the biggest lever on total time.

Sample cost

We normally provide samples against the project; the mould charge covers tooling, and sample parts are produced on that tool. Ask us about sample quantity and any freight when you brief the project. The point of a sample is to validate before committing to volume, so we keep this step low-friction.

What to check on the sample

  • Shape and relief. Does the 3D geometry match the approved model?
  • Colour. Does it match your Pantone or reference swatch?
  • Size and thickness. Within the agreed tolerance?
  • Finish. Gloss, matte, glitter or embossed as specified?
  • Function. Attachment, fit or sealing performance as required?

From sample to production

Approving the sample freezes the spec. Production then runs to that approved sample, which is also the reference for incoming QC. See quality control and the lead-time guide.

FAQ

How fast can I get a sample?
5–7 days after artwork approval. Approve artwork early to shorten total time.

Does the sample match production?
Yes. The sample is made in the real mould and material, so it is the reference for the production run and for QC.

What if the sample is wrong?
Changes at sample stage are low-cost. Once production starts, changes mean re-tooling, so the sample is the time to get it right.

Do you keep the sample on file?
The approved sample and the mould are stored against your order, so reorders reproduce the same part.

Minimum order and lead time?
100 pieces per design; sampling 5–7 days; production 12–30 days after artwork approval. Free 3D modelling before tooling.
